Grocery chains and delivery services clearly have a big stake in the online soft drinks category, but we were interested to see how e-commerce giants, like Walmart, Amazon and Jet, are allowing smaller brands to have a bigger presence online. Soft drink consumers have been lugging packs of heavy liquids from the store to their home for decades. But now that it’s 2017, 1010data noticed that purchases of soft drinks online are growing quick! Over the past year, online soft drink sales grew 58% among the sites we tracked.
1010data analyzed online purchases of soft drinks from March 2016 – February 2017 and found that:
- Coca-Cola generated more than one-fifth of soft drink sales online
- Barq’s is the fastest growing brand in this space online and generated 9x more sales YOY
- MUG has the highest online conversion rate with more than a third of product views turning into purchases
- Most of the top products sold online come in 12 packs of 12 fluid ounce cans
